Thirty-eight Perry Junior High School students were recently recognized for demonstrating exemplary character traits and values that go beyond academic achievements.
Spartan Strong, Perry’s character recognition program, commends students in grades 7-9 who consistently exhibit Portrait of a Spartan competencies – adaptability, empathy, communication, critical thinking, integrity and global citizenship – as well as other positive qualities such as responsibility, respect, and perseverance.
“We want to make sure we are acknowledging students who contribute to creating a positive school environment and serve as role models to their peers,” said Perry principal Michael Sinacore. “This is not an academic award. Being a genuine, good person is just as important as working hard in the classroom.”
Spartan Strong was established during the 2023-24 school year and each marking period, every Perry teacher may nominate one student for the award. The program is supported by the New Hartford Central School District Foundation.
