New Hartford students shine at Fonda-Fultonville Jazz Festival

The talented musicians of New Hartford Central School District showcased their skills at the annual Fonda-Fultonville Jazz Festival, earning high praise and impressive ratings for their performances. This premier event highlights high school musicians providing them an opportunity to share their musical abilities in a day-long celebration of jazz music. 

The Perry Junior High Blue Jazz Band received a Silver Rating, demonstrating their dedication, musicality, and passion for jazz. All-Star awards were presented to Maggie MacTurk on trumpet, JP Radel on piano, and Tino Visalli on vibraphone. 

Meanwhile, the Perry Junior High Red Jazz Band delivered an outstanding performance that earned them a Gold Rating, along with recognition for an Outstanding Brass Section, and Outstanding Rhythm Section. All-Star awards were presented to Sam Robertson on drums, Sophia Arcuri on alto saxophone, and Chloe Chhom on tenor saxophone. 

New Hartford High School Jazz Band earned a Silver Rating, with All-Star awards going to Ethan Jones on drums, Aidan Brouillette on trombone, Kaloeb Chhom on baritone saxophone, and Jake Carey on alto saxophone. 

“We are incredibly proud of all our jazz ensembles,” said Dan Fabbio, Perry Junior High School Band Director, New Hartford Marching Spartans Director, and New Hartford Winter Programs Director. “Their dedication and growth as musicians were evident in their performances, and these ratings reflect their commitment to excellence.” 

The Fonda-Fultonville Jazz Festival, now in its 22nd season, brings together student musicians from across the region, providing them with an opportunity to perform, receive professional feedback, and celebrate jazz music. The success of the New Hartford students highlights the strength of the school’s music program and the bright future of its young musicians.
