New Hartford students earn New York State Seal of Biliteracy

June 27, 2024

A group of New Hartford Senior High School students earned the New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB), which recognizes high school students who have achieved a high level of proficiency in English and one or more world languages.

To earn the seal, a student must:

  • Complete all requirements for graduating with a NYS Regents diploma
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English and a world language by earning coursework, exam and/or project credit

NYSSB prepares students with 21st century skills, helps to inform universities and employers about applicants with biliteracy skills, and affirms the value of diversity in a multilingual society, according to the NYSSB website.

NYSSB Recipients

Angela Chen – Mandarin (pending AP score in July)
Sachithri Kuruwita – French
Kailyn Schiavi – French
Ana Sifre – Spanish
Parker Stewart – French
