There are many clubs and organizations to which students may belong while in high school, including numerous athletic teams. We urge students to participate in as many activities as they reasonably can without negatively impacting their academic progress. These activities are positive ways for students to invest time, thought and energy. In addition to being fun, extracurricular activities also look great on your college application.
Successful involvement in activities outside of the classroom indicate you are well-rounded, responsible, committed to a goal, have good time management skills, and can work well with others – characteristics that a college wants to see in an applicant. Participation in activities also enhances a student’s chance for success after college.
