Sept. 11, 2024
At its Sept. 10 meeting, the New Hartford Board of Education appointed Cynthia DeDominick as the New Hartford Central School District’s Interim Director of Athletics.
In August, Athletic Director John Banek announced his retirement. Mr. Banek and Mrs. DeDominick will work together through Sept. 13 to help ensure a smooth transition.
Mrs. DeDominick began her career in education nearly 30 years ago as an academic intervention specialist at Madison-Oneida BOCES. After two years of teaching, she went on to serve as high school principal of Madison Central School. From 2001 to 2011 she served as the Madison Central School District’s superintendent of schools and retired in 2019 from her position as superintendent of schools at Lansingburgh Central School District.
Since her retirement, she has held several interim positions including curriculum consultant at Westmoreland Central School, elementary principal at Oriskany Central School District, superintendent at Holland Patent Central School District, and elementary principal at Kernan Elementary in the Utica Central School District.
The district is conducting a search for the next Director of Athletics and expects to fill the position this fall.
