Construction at Perry Junior High School has reached a new milestone. When students return to Perry after the mid-winter recess, there will be four newly-renovated science classrooms open for learning.
The renovations focused on modernizing the old classrooms and bringing them up to the district’s common standard.

Science room upgrades include new ceilings, energy-efficient LED lighting, and energy-efficient ceiling mounted HVAC/exhaust systems. The new ceiling mounted HVAC units have cooling capabilities, which will make for more comfortable learner and teacher-friendly spaces in warmer weather. The ceiling units also allow for more space to be utilized in the classrooms compared to the floor units that were replaced.

Bathroom renovations have also been underway with the installation of new ceilings, lights, doors, and ductwork that will eventually connect to the new HVAC system.
Construction crews are working toward renovating every classroom in Perry, including four additional science classrooms. The work is part of Phase 1 of the Health, Energy and Academics Capital Improvement Project.
Most of the construction is expected to be completed by the end of February 2026. District administrators had previously anticipated the majority of the construction to be complete by December 2025. However, due to slower than expected turnaround times for approval by the New York State Education Department, the timeline has been extended by approximately three months.
